Overview
Bengt Ryno Berndtsson was born on 26 January 1933 in Göteborg. His IFK Göteborg first-team career began in the 1950/51 season. He made his competitive debut on 5 August 1951 against Jönköpings Södra IF in Allsvenskan, a match that finished 2–1.
He spent 17 seasons with IFK Göteborg's first team and made 599 appearances and scoring 125 goals. Of those 599 appearances, 348 came in Allsvenskan.
Berndtsson won the Swedish championship with IFK Göteborg in 1957-58. In 1958, he won World Cup silver with the national team. Berndtsson made 29 senior international appearances for Sweden, scoring 6 goals.
Berndtsson died on 4 June 2015, aged 82.
