Frank Valfrid Petersson was born on August 28, 1909 in Partille and made his IFK Göteborg debut in the 1927/28 season, which was also the debut season of team mate Ernst Andersson. Petersson was part of IFK Göteborg's youth program before making his debute with the first team, and is as a result of that regarded by the club as a home-grown player. At 23 years, 8 months and 6 days, on May 5, 1933, he took part his first competetive game against GAIS in an Allsvenskan game that ended 3–1. He spent four seasons with the IFK Göteborgs first team, and during his career he played in 13 first team games and scored 6 goals. Out of these 13 first team games, 2 were Allsvenskan games.
