Biography

Arne Gunnar Appelgren was born on March 24, 1922 in Göteborg and made his IFK Göteborg debut in the 1942/43 season, which was also the debut season of team mate Erik Bergqvist. Appelgren was part of IFK Göteborg's youth program before making his debute with the first team, and is as a result of that regarded by the club as a home-grown player. At 20 years, 3 months and 9 days, on July 3, 1942, he took part his first competetive game against Degerfors IF in a Svenska cupen game that ended 0–2. He spent one season with the IFK Göteborgs first team, and during his career he played in 4 first team games and scored 1 goals. Out of these 4 first team games, 1 were Allsvenskan games.. Appelgren passed away in 1990, 67 years old.
